Iconic martial arts practitioner Bruce Lee died nearly 40 years ago, yet his legacy lives stronger today than it ever has. UFC president Dana White has long-considered him as “The Godfather of MMA” because Lee was preaching the importance of learning multiple disciplines long before the UFC became a gleam in Rorion Gracie’s eyes.

With the 38-year anniversary of his death steadily approaching, some of the world’s best mixed martial artists shared exactly what Lee has meant to them and the sport that pays their bills.

“The stuff that he did [back then] is what molded what we do today,” UFC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz stated.
