As expected, the hotly-rumored lightweight shootout between KJ Noons and Jorge Masvidal will go down June 18th at “Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum.” The San Jose, California based promotion confirmed the matchup Wednesday morning.
Noons holds a 10-3 professional record, with eight of his victories coming by way of finish. The former EliteXC champion was last seen dropping a unanimous decision to Strikeforce king Nick Diaz last October.
Masvidal holds an underrated 21-6 resume. The American Top Team fighter posted a decision win over Billy Evangelista at “Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson” this past March.
“Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum” takes place inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Showtime will broadcast the main bouts starting at 10PM ET/PT.
