Jon Fitch will be on the IR list until his surgically repaired shoulder heals. With an ample amount of time at his disposal, the UFC welterweight has been able to give his division a good once-over.
After expressing his displeasure in the 170-pound title unification bout between Strikeforce champ Nick Diaz and UFC king Georges St-Pierre that appears destined for December, Fitch appeared on the latest edition of HDNet’s “Inside MMA” and said he’s only got two tangos on his mind, with GSP marking his primary target.
“There’s really no other fight for me,” Fitch said of a rematch. “I have no interest in any other fight. It’s been a long road trying to get back to GSP. I think I’ve done more than enough to prove myself worthy, but I have unfinished business with BJ, also.
“Those are the only two fights for me. I want to get over this shoulder injury as soon as I can, and that’s really what I’m looking for.”
However, after claiming Diaz wasn’t worthy of a shot at St-Pierre’s crown, Mr. 209 might wanted to be added to Fitch’s VIP list.
Fitch is hopeful for a December return.
