As expected, a thrilling lightweight scrap between Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante and Justin Wilcox will go down June 18th at “Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum.”
Cavalcante’s Authentic Sports Management confirmed his matchup Thursday.
“I am proud to represent JZ, as he has an amazing work ethic and support system with the ability to conquer anything he decides to take on,” said ASM president Glenn Robinson. “I have the ultimate confidence in JZ and that he will come out victorious on June 18th.”
Cavalcante owns an impressive 15-4-1 resume, with 12 of his victories coming via devastating finish. The Brazilian was last seen dropping a controversial unanimous decision loss to Josh Thomson this past October.
If JZ can help it, that will mark the last time he’ll allow the officials to determine his fate.
“Wilcox is a tough guy, and he has good trainers and a powerful training camp behind him. I recognize that,” said Cavalcante. “But that motivates me even more for this fight and I am not going to leave it in the judges’ hands, I am going to bring home a win for me, my family, and my team on June 18th.”
The American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas will host the star-studded event.
