While most fans are anticipating a shootout when Shane Carwin and Junior dos Santos take center stage at UFC 131, the Brazilian believes Carwin will look to turn their top contender brawl into a wrestling match.
If that’s what dos Santos wants to be think heading into Saturday’s scrap, Carwin certainly won’t argue with him. According to the part-time engineer, 2Santos will indeed find himself on the canvas – one way or another.
“Junior is right about expecting to be getting taken down, by my left or right hand. #UFC131,” Carwin tweeted Thursday.
Carwin owns an explosive 12-1 resume, with all of his victories coming within the opening round.
Dos Santos is a 2-to-1 favorite to beat the former interim heavyweight champ, while Carwin currently checks in as a +155 underdog. The winner of the pay-per-view main event will advance to challenge Cain Velasquez for his freshly minted 265-pound crown.
UFC 131 takes place this Saturday inside the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.
