In their continued effort to promote their Twitter account, the UFC has announced a critical lightweight scrap between former PrideFC champion Takanori Gomi and Nate Diaz for UFC 135 on the popular media network.
Gomi was last seen getting submitted by Clay Guida at UFC 125 this past New Year’s Day. The Japanese star holds a respectable 32-7 (1 NC) record overall, but has lost four of his last seven contests.
After dropping two consecutive welterweight fights, Diaz has decided to drop back down to the weight class that helped make him famous. The former “The Ultimate Fighter 5” winner has only been victorious in three of his last eight Octagon outings.
UFC 135 takes place September 24th inside the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. A light heavyweight title tilt between champion Jon Jones and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will headline the pay-per-view broadcast.
Here are the athletes expected to participate in the show:
Ben Rothwell vs. Mark Hunt
Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto vs. Damacio Page
Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi
Travis Browne vs. Rob Broughton
Diego Sanchez vs. Matt Hughes
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Jon Jones (UFC Light Heavyweight Champion)
