Late Thursday night, the UFC’s little brother added a middleweight shootout between Tim Kennedy and Robbie Lawler to their “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” event on July 30th.
Kennedy was last seen beating Melvin Manhoef this past March. The former military man has won five of his past six scraps, with his lone blemish coming to reigning Strikeforce 185-pound champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
Lawler was submitted by the aforementioned Souza for the vacant title in his last outing. The veteran has alternated between wins and losses over his last six contests.
“Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” takes place inside the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The Showtime broadcast will be headlined by a heavyweight affair between Fedor Emelianenko and current Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson.
Here are the athletes expected to appear in the extravaganza:
Scott Smith vs. Tarec Saffiedine
Paul Daley vs. Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos
Roger Gracie vs. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal
Tim Kennedy vs. Robbie Lawler
Miesha Tate vs. Marloes Coenen (Women’s Welterweight Champion)
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Dan Henderson (Heavyweight Bout)
