After what UFC color-man Joe Rogan had called “one the most embarrassing knockouts we have ever seen,” Forrest Griffin ran out of the Octagon as soon as he had regained his senses. Afterwords, president Dana White responded to Griffin’s abrupt exit by stating, “We’ve seen it before with him, he’s an emotional guy.”
Griffin threw a similar tantrum after Keith Jardine knocked him out at UFC 66 after a pivotal light heavyweight match-up when both fighters were steadily climbing the ranks.
According to a report, Griffin may have suffered a broken jaw and had apparently left for the hospital following the fight.
“I haven’t seen him since. He might be in Georgia by now,” White told the media. “He’s an emotional guy and we’ve seen that from Forrest before when he’s lost a big fight that he thought he was gonna win.”
MMAWeekly.com has been able to confirm through a source close to Griffin that he has NOT suffered a broken jaw but is dealing with a broken ego. According to the report, Griffin is having a very difficult time dealing with not just the loss, but the humiliating fashion in which it happened.
“He came into this fight very confident that he was going to beat Anderson Silva. He’s emotional,” White explained.
Griffin is known for being a tough guy with a kid’s heart. There’s no doubt that we’ll see him back in the Octagon, but it’ll be interesting to see how he rebounds from two consecutive knockout losses.
