Although most of the fans inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena felt Urijah Faber did enough to leave Las Vegas with Dominick Cruz’s bantamweight title, Faber was more than gracious after it was revealed he had lost a unanimous decision.
UFC president Dana White expressed great relief at the post-fight press conference that he didn’t have to judge their 25-minute affair, as each round was far too close to call. While I was sitting in press row on Saturday night, I heard every possible score under the rainbow heading into the 5thRound.
While the three judges sitting Octagon-side each saw Cruz winning the majority of the fight, Faber and the stadium full of his fanboys held out hope his name would be called when the official scores were read. Unfortunately for “The California Kid,” Cruz tied their rivalry up at one apiece and retained his 135-pound crown as he promised he would.
After loading up his DVR to catch the replay, Faber appears to have come to terms with the razor-thin decision and is looking towards a trilogy.
“Just watchd my fight, 2 close to Really Bitch & Moan,” Faber posted on his Twitter. “Can’t wait till next time.”
