Not to be outdone by all of the UFC 136 fight announcements made this fine Friday, lightweight Joe Lauzon took to his Twitter account and confirmed he would meet Melvin Guillard in the October 8th show.
It’s not often you get what you ask for, but after blasting past Shane Roller at UFC 132, Guillard will be granted the opportunity to fight in front of his mother in Houston. His knockout of Roller was his fifth consecutive victory.
Lauzon has alternated between wins and losses over his last five contests. The jiu jitsu ace was most recently seen submitting Curt Warburton last month at “UFC on Versus 4.”
It was announced moments ago, ‘Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard III’ would headline the pay-per-view broadcast. UFC 136 takes place inside the Toyota Center in Texas.
Here is the card’s updated lineup. Most of the bouts were announced today:
Matt Grice vs Josh Grispi
Dave Herman vs. Mike Russow
Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago
Melvin Guillard vs. Joe Lauzon
Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann
Gray Maynard vs. Frankie Edgar (UFC Lightweight Champion)
