UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar

The UFC 136 fight announcements were coming at a fast and furious pace on Friday. Just in case you missed all of yesterday’s frantic action, here’s what the October 8th roster now looks like.

A pair of championship bouts will headline the pay-per-view broadcast. Frankie Edgar puts his lightweight strap on the line for the second consecutive time against Gray Maynard when they meet in the night’s featured attraction.

Featherweight king Jose Aldo meets Kenny Florian in the card’s co-main event.

Opening for the pair of five round affairs will be an intriguing middleweight tango between Brian Stann and Chael Sonnen. If that weren’t enough, a lightweight shootout with Melvin Guillard and Joe Lauzon will also take place inside the Toyota Center in Houston.

Only seven bouts have been announced for the show thus far, however UFC 136 is starting to look like one of the more blockbuster lineups the Octagon has offered in quite some time. Hopefully, the injury bug doesn’t come creeping around again…

Here is the star-studded roster as it currently stands:

Preliminary Bouts:

Matt Grice vs Josh Grispi

Dave Herman vs. Mike Russow

Main Bouts:

Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago

Melvin Guillard vs. Joe Lauzon

Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann

Kenny Florian vs. Jose Aldo (UFC Featherweight Champion)

Gray Maynard vs. Frankie Edgar (UFC Lightweight Champion)
