For those of you still reluctant to hop on Twitter, it appears that’s the spot for breaking MMA news this weekend. After the UFC announced several spectacular scraps on Friday, welterweight Charlie Brenneman used his account to hint at an upcoming fight with Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.
“I feel a Rumble comin on!” Brenneman tweeted.
The world’s premier MMA promotion subsequently confirmed “The Spaniard’s” post, but did not announce which October show the 170-pounders would square off. UFC 136 takes place October 8th, while UFC 137 goes down the 29th.
The rumor mill is also suggesting they could meet in a yet-to-be announced Spike TV show on the first day of October.
Brenneman was last seen shocking the world as a last-minute replacement for Nate Marquardt at “UFC on Versus 4.” The upset specialist bumped his record to 14-2 with his lopsided unanimous decision win over Rick Story in the card’s featured attraction.
Johnson, on the other hand, is bouncing back from a decision win of his own over Dan Hardy at “UFC Fight Night 24” this past March. He’s 4-1 over his past five Octagon outings.
“Aight well I guess I’m fighting @SpaniardMMA I’m a fan of his actually so it’ll be a good fight. I respect him and his camp,” Johnson posted.
