Instead of engaging in a verbal sparring session with UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen, which would possibly go down as one of the most entertaining things ever known to mankind, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has decided to allow MMA’s most outrageous trash-talker to continue on his monologue.
While the former light heavyweight champion has never been one to shy away from a good smack-talking spat, his momma always told him that it’s never polite to make fun of the kids on the short bus.
“I don’t care about what Chael Sonnen says,” Rampage stated during Tuesday’s press conference. “If he paid more attention on his game and stuff like that, he probably woulda won his last fight – [instead of] trying to talk crap on everyone else.
“Something’s wrong with him. For real. Something’s wrong with him. You know? When people are slow and stuff like that, you kinda just like pity them. So I don’t even concentrate on Chael Sonnen.”
Coincidentally, Rampage played B.A. Baracus in the movie remake of The A-Team. Baracus was originally portrayed by Mr. T in the 1980’s, who was notorious for pitying fools.
Sonnen recently suggested some of the PrideFC bouts used to be “fixed” and that several of the fighters that blossomed under the Japanese promotion actually “sucked.” Rampage made his claim to fame with Pride prior to joining the UFC in 2007.
In any event, Rampage currently has bigger fish to fry with an impending light heavyweight title scrap against champ Jon Jones. So for now, he will continue to ignore Sonnen’s remarks. It’s not like Rampage even knows he who is anyway…
“If Chael Sonnen walked past me right now, I wouldn’t even know who he is. Straight up. So he can say whatever he wants to say about me. He can say it to my face, I’ll think he’s a fan like somebody else.
“I don’t know what Chael Sonnen looks like. Straight up.”
