The UFC has announced Thiago Alves will roll out the welcome wagon and greet Papy Abedi into the big leagues. The welterweights will meet November 5th at “UFC 138: Leben vs. Munoz.”
Alves is looking to snap the 1-3 funk he’s currently found himself in. He was last seen posting a disappointing decision loss to Rick Story at UFC 130. The Brazilian holds a respectable 18-8 record overall.
Abedi owns a perfect 8-0 resume, with seven of his wins coming before the final horns have sounded. The 33-year-old was recently inked to a four-fight contract with the world’s premier mixed martial arts show. They certainly didn’t do him any favors in his debut by squaring him up against the former top contender.
For North Americans, UFC 138 will be made available via same-day tape-delay on Spike TV (Rogers Sportsnet in Canada). The LG Arena in Birmingham, England will play host.
The card will be headlined by a pivotal middleweight shootout between Chris Leben and Mark Munoz.
Here are the athletes scheduled to appear in the show:
Brad Pickett vs. Renan Barao
Thiago Alves vs. Papy Abedi
Mark Munoz vs. Chris Leben
