With one simple tweet, the UFC confirmed two things early Thursday morning: Their “UFC on Versus 6” show will indeed take place in Washington D.C. as been heavily rumored, and a lightweight matchup between Michael Johnson and Paul Sass was added to the October 1st event.
After losing in the finals of “The Ultimate Fighter 12″ to Jonathan Brookins, Johnson bounced back to post a devastating 1stRound TKO win over Edward Faaloloto last month at “UFC on Versus 4.” The up-and-comer has rattled victories in four of his last five outings.
Sass owns a perfect 11-0 resume, with 10 of his victories coming by way of submission. Eight of his tapouts were of the triangle choke variety. He was last seen making Mark Holst cry uncle at UFC 120.
Versus will broadcast the event’s main bouts. It’s unknown whether the 155-pound affair will make it to air.
Here are the bouts that have been announced for the card thus far:
Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman
Paul Sass vs. Michael Johnson
Charlie Brenneman vs. Anthony “Rumble” Johnson
