Fans won’t catch Gina Carano fighting inside of a hexagon anytime soon, so why not check out the female face of MMA in a teaser for her upcoming movie? “Haywire” is expected to hit the silver screen this January.
Director Steven Soderbergh first met Carano soon after she got mauled by Christiane “Cyborg” Santos in 2009. Although she was still sporting a black eye after losing her first pro contest, Soderbergh knew “Conviction” was the woman for him.
Carano plays a former Marine and current special operative for a private firm who is framed for a murder.
Carano abruptly pulled out of her comeback fight against Sarah D’Alelio last month at “Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum” after her “medical clearance was revoked.” However, it was revealed the following day Carano was completely cleared by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to compete.
Neither Carano nor her camp have explained why she pulled out at the 11th hour. Still no word on when her mixed martial arts career will resume.
