With a win over former UFC Welterweight Chad Reiner at Cage Warriors, Britain’s own Dan Hardy earned himself a UFC contract according to Setanta Sports. Hardy learned of the UFC’s interest in him prior to his fight on April 19th and told Setanta Sports, “I was close to getting into The UFC, but if I lost this fight I knew I could kiss that goodbye.”
Talk about pressure, an eight-year dream was on the line, but Hardy continued his winning ways with his fifth win in a row.
With the UFC releasing so many fighters, it’s definitely news when they actually sign a fighter. Hardy is walking into an already loaded UFC Welterweight division with other fellow British fighters in Paul Kelly and Paul Taylor, but is looking to make a name for himself.
“I now feel my experience and ability is at a level where I can come into The UFC and not just have a few good fights, but really do things here,” Hardy went on to say.
Hardy’s rumored debut in the UFC appears to be at UFC 87, but obviously that may change. We’ll have to wait and see.
