Late Thursday night, UFC welterweight Mike Swick announced a knee injury will postpone his long-awaited Octagon return. Swick was slated to face Erick Silva at “UFC 134: Silva vs. Okami” on August 27th.
“Yes rumors are true. I tore my knee today wrestling. Will get MRI results in am but Dr thinks torn MCL, ACL and possibly meniscus,” Swick tweeted. “Got my health and size back and was having best fight camp of my career then one small twist during training. Can’t catch a break sometimes.
“Really was excited about this fight. Don’t really have anything else to say I guess. Sorry guys thanks for the support.”
Swick was last seen posting his second consecutive loss in February of 2010. He was subsequently misdiagnosed with a stomach ailment and has been riding the pine ever since. He was planning to return at “UFC Fight for the Troops 2” this last January, but opponent David Mitchell had to withdraw due to an injury.
According to the UFC, a replacement opponent for Silva will be announced shortly.
