Sherdog is reporting that female MMA fighter Carina Damm has tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug, Nandrolone. According to the California State Athletic Commission, “Damm’s nanogram count was reported at 37.9 ng/mL which exceeds the threshold of 2 ng/mL.” Damm was coming off of a 1stRound submission victory over Sophie Bagherdai on April 3rd.

Damm becomes the first female MMA fighter to test positive for any steroid. Sherdog’s attempt to reach Damm were obviously not answered.

Other female fighters had assumed that Damm was on some sort of performance-enhancing drug. Damm was scheduled to fight Debi Purcell for ShoXC’s June 27th event, but now faces a 1-year suspension. There has not been an announcement of a replacement fighter yet.

We’ll keep you posted as more information comes out.
