Prior to the Ultimate Fighting Championship and FOX’s monumental press conference where the powerhouses will announce a multi-year television broadcast agreement, Spike TV, the UFC’s longtime freebie TV provider whose contract expires at the end of 2011, issued a statement Thursday morning regarding their separation from the world’s premier MMA promotion.

“The Ultimate Fighter” season 14 in September will be our last. We are increasing our commitment to distinctive, original series that we own such as “Auction Hunters” and “Bar Rescue” which are delivering on our goal to reach a broader audience. Our 6-year partnership with the UFC has been incredibly beneficial in building both our brands, and we wish them all the best in the future.”

Although Spike has ended their relationship with the UFC, or vice versa, it has been widely speculated they have been in talks with Bellator Fighting Championships over the past several months. Bellator, the most popular mixed martial arts organization in America not run by Zuffa, LLC, the parent company of the UFC and Strikeforce, has been airing on MTV2 for the last couple of seasons.

The UFC and FOX’s press conference will stream live at 10AM PT/1PM ET. Please click HERE to watch the festivities.
