Now that the UFC has officially announced their monumental television broadcast deal with FOX, it’s “business as usual” for the rest of the MMA world. Speaking of the UFC’s little brother, the roster for “Strikeforce HW GP Semifinals: Barnett vs. Kharitonov” is nearly complete.
The September 10th show takes place inside the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio and features the semifinals of the company’s Heavyweight Grand Prix. Replacement Daniel Cormier faces Antonio Silva in one matchup, while Josh Barnett faces Sergei Kharitonov in the card’s main event.
Luke Rockhold challenges middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza for his crown in the night’s third-to-last contest.
Eight scraps have been confirmed thus far, but Strikeforce’s last major card featured 10 bouts. So it’s likely the company will fill out the remaining roster with some local talent.
Showtime will broadcast the card’s main bouts at 10:30PM ET/PT.
Here are the athletes slated to compete in the Buckeye State:
Jordan Mein vs. Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos
Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante vs. Yoel Romero
Mike Kyle vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima
Maximo Blanco vs. Josh Thomson
Roger Gracie vs. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal
Luke Rockhold vs. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (Strikeforce Middleweight Champion)
Heavyweight Grand Prix Semifinals:
Daniel Cormier vs. Antonio Silva
