For their highly-anticipated return to Houston, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will bombard Texas with some of the sport’s biggest superstars. On Wednesday, over two dozen athletes were announced for the UFC Fan Expo at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
“We’re excited to bring some of the biggest stars in the sport to Houston for the UFC Fan Expo,” UFC president Dana White said. “This is our sixth Expo now. For people who have never experienced the Fan Expo before, trust me, this is the ultimate fan experience. You won’t be disappointed.”
The following fighters will participate in autograph sessions and a variety of other fan-friendly activities on Friday, October 7th and Saturday, October 8th:
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva, UFC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz, UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell, Frank Mir, Forrest Griffin, Tito Ortiz, Vitor Belfort, Rashad Evans and Matt Serra, as well as UFC stars Wanderlei Silva, Shane Carwin, Urijah Faber, Miguel Torres, Phil Davis, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Clay Guida, Brendan Schaub, Mark Munoz, Donald Cerrone, Jon Fitch, Amir Sadollah, Matt Mitrione, Pat Barry, Jake Shields, Chan Sung “The Korean Zombie” Jung, Cole Miller and Stephan Bonnar.
In addition, Strikeforce lightweight title holder Gilbert Melendez, welterweight contender Tyron Woodley and Tim Kennedy will also take part in the festivities.
The UFC Fan Expo will serve as a lead-in for arguably the most star-studded card the Octagon has offered all year. “UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III” takes place that Saturday inside the Toyota Center in Houston. The pay-per-view broadcast will feature a pair of title tilts.
Featherweight champ Jose Aldo will defend his crown against Kenny Florian in the card’s co-featured attraction, while lightweight champ Frankie Edgar faces Gray Maynard for a third time in the main event.
