Dream Kazushi Sakuraba

What would a mixed martial arts event in Japan be without the presence of Kazushi Sakuraba? Thankfully, fans won’t have to find out at “Dream.17,” as the promotion announced his welterweight scrap against Yan Cabral on Thursday.

Sakuraba holds a 26-15-1 professional record and is considered to be one of the country’s most respected and beloved competitors. However, “The Gracie Hunter” will be riding a three-fight losing streak into the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

He most recently lost via TKO (Doctor’s Stoppage) to Marius Zaromskis at “Dream: Dynamite!! 2010” because his right ear was literally falling off.

Cabral owns a perfect 9-0 resume and will be making his debut for the organization.

The card will feature the opening round of Dream’s World Bantamweight Tournament.

No word if HDNet will make the September 24th card available for viewing in North America.

Here is the event’s updated lineup:

Gerald Harris vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura

Satoru Kitaoka vs. Willamy Freire

Caol Uno vs. Takeshi Inoue

Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Yan Cabral

Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Joachim Hansen

Rob McCullough vs. Shinya Aoki (Dream Lightweight Champion)*

World Bantamweight Grand Prix (1stRound):

Masakazu Imanari vs. Abel Cullum

Bibiano Fernandes vs. Takafumi Otuska
