Shortly after middleweight king Anderson Silva made quick work of Yushin Okami at UFC 134, Chael Sonnen dropped his two cents on Silva’s ninth successful title defense. Unfortunately for Sonnen fans, Twitter limited “The Spider’s” biggest nemesis to only 140 characters to express his feelings.
“We call Andy “champ” like we call developmentally disabled animals “champ.” Good boy, Andy, good boy!” Sonnen tweeted.
Okami posted a controversial disqualification win over Silva at “Rumble on the Rock 8” in January of 2006 when he received an illegal kick to the face. It was the last time anyone hung an L in Silva’s loss column.
Sonnen dropped his championship bout against Silva at UFC 117. After dominating the planet’s baddest 185-pounder for the better part of their five-round affair, Sonnen wound up getting submitted at the 11th hour. The August 2010 shootout was the last time the controversial wrestler was seen competing inside the Octagon.
During his year-long hiatus, courtesy of a failed drug test and his involvement in a money laundering scheme, Sonnen helped Okami prepare for Saturday’s shootout in Brazil. Unfortunately for the Japanese star, he didn’t experience anywhere near the same level of success Sonnen did.
Sonnen is currently scheduled to make his comeback fight against Brian Stann at UFC 136 on October 8th.
