On Wednesday, it was reported welterweight Pascal Krauss was forced out of his UFC 138 contest against John Hathaway with an undisclosed injury. As we all know fully well, the Octagon show waits for no man, as Matt Brown has agreed to play substitute and meet “The Hitman” in the November 5th show.
Hathaway holds an impressive 15-1 record and was last seen in March taking a controversial split decision win over Kris McCray. The Brit’s sole professional blemish came against Mike Pyle at UFC 120.
Brown appeared in June snapping his three-fight losing skid by hanging a unanimous decision win over John Howard at “UFC on Versus 4: Kongo vs. Barry.” The veteran owns a mundane 12-10 pro mark.
A slew of other scraps were also confirmed for the card. Brad Pickett will make his postponed UFC premiere against Renan Barao in a bantamweight bout, while Cyrille Diabate is set to fight Anthony Perosh in a light heavyweight affair.
A crop of Octagon rookies will also make their debuts at UFC 138, as TUF 13’s Chris Cope welcomes Che Mills, Chris Cariaso takes on Vaughan Lee and heavyweights Phil De Fries and Oli Thompson will square off.
For North Americans, UFC 138 will be made available via same-day tape-delay on Spike TV (Rogers Sportsnet in Canada). A middleweight affair between Chris Leben and Mark Munoz will headline the show.
The LG Arena in Birmingham will host the UFC’s long-awaited return to England.
