The Ultimate Fighting Championship has just announced welterweight prospect Rory MacDonald (Pictured) will take on Brian Ebersole at UFC 140 on December 10th.
“Two of the welterweight division’s most promising contenders have verbally agreed to fight as Brian ‘Bad Boy’ Ebersole takes on Rory ‘Ares’ MacDonald December 10 in Toronto,” UFC president Dana White stated.
MacDonald owns an impressive 12-1 record, which includes three wins in his first four Octagon appearances. His lone Octagon loss came at the hands of 170-pound contender Carlos Condit at UFC 115 when he was stopped via TKO with only seven ticks remaining in their fight.
Widely regarded as the division’s next coming, MacDonald impressed many when he easily disposed of veteran Mike Pyle last month at UFC 133. Now he’ll see if his training with current champion Georges St-Pierre will help continue his ascent towards the top of the division.
Ebersole made his big league debut at UFC 127 when he replaced the aforementioned Condit to take on Chris Lytle. He and his impressive “hairrow” shocked the MMA world when he took home a unanimous decision win against the hard hitting Lytle.
The “Bad Boy’s” most recent ‘W’ also took place at UFC 133 when he viciously elbowed Dennis Hallman (and his now-banned Speedo) until the referee stepped in to prevent further damage.
UFC 140 takes place inside the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada.
