On Friday night, it was announced former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz (Pictured) would face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 140. The Air Canada Centre in Toronto will host the Octagon’s return to Canada.
It will be a family affair for the Nogueiras, as “Lil Nog” joins his brother in the December 10th event. It was reported Wednesday Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira would rematch Frank Mir in a heavyweight contest.
Nogueira and Ortiz were originally scheduled to headline “UFC Fight Night 24” in March, but an injury sidelined Ortiz and allowed Phil Davis to fill in. Nogueira dropped a lopsided unanimous decision loss to “Mr. Wonderful” that night in Seattle. The bout marked his second consecutive defeat.
Ortiz was last seen getting kneed in the chest by Rashad Evans at UFC 133. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” served as a last-minute replacement in the August bout. He collected his first victory in nearly five years by submitting Ryan Bader at UFC 132 just one month prior to his TKO loss to Evans.
Here are the athletes slated to perform in the show:
Rich Attonito vs. Claude Patrick
John Cholish vs. Mitch Clarke
Dennis Hallman and John Makdessi
Brian Ebersole vs. Rory MacDonald
Tito Ortiz vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Frank Mir vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
