The Ohio Athletic Commission has issued precautionary medical suspensions to four “Strikeforce HW GP Semifinal” athletes for various injuries sustained during this past Saturday’s fights.
Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (Pictured) and Yoel Romero received the longest bans, as each will be forced to ride the pine for 60 days.
Bigfoot suffered a devastating knockout loss to Daniel Cormier in the semifinals of Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Grand Prix. Interestingly, Cormier did not get medically suspended despite injuring his right hand during the 1stRound victory.
The former All-American wrestler will have an X-ray on his hand this week. The fate of the tournament finals hinges on his haymaker.
Romero was put to sleep by Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante in the 2ndRound of their light heavyweight affair.
“Strikeforce HW GP Semifinals” took place this past Saturday inside the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati.
