In addition to being a contender in the UFC’s talented middleweight division, Mark Munoz is also the owner of Reign Training Center, one of the hottest mixed martial arts gyms in the world. Considering he mentors countless superstars, who better to ask about the recent controversies that have flooded MMA than “The Filipino Wrecking Machine?”
One of the up-and-comers Munoz tutors is welterweight Jake Ellenberger, who headlines Saturday’s “UFC Fight Night 25” event opposite Jake Shields. Munoz discusses what he would have done to Ellenberger if he dared to pull a stunt like Nick Diaz did last week.
RTC athlete Krzysztof Soszynski recently stated that up to 85% of MMA fighters are abusing performance-enhancing drugs. Needless to say, Munoz was shocked by Soszynski’s claim that the sport is that dirty.
In addition, being the head honcho of a budding fight team, it’s Munoz’s responsibility to establish a culture of trust and camaraderie. Hear what he told us about what he would do if a spy invaded his facility.
Munoz also touches on his fellow 185-pounders, and when that’s the case, there’s no middleweight alive that stirs up more drama than Chael Sonnen. Although Munoz knows the outspoken wrestler fairly well, he says he wouldn’t have a problem fighting him somewhere down the line.
