It is being reported that lightweight Thiago Tavares has suffered a knee injury that will force him out of his UFC 103 fight against Jim Miller.
MMAjunkie.com has confirmed with sources close to the situation that Tavares will likely require surgery on his dinged up wheel.
The Brazilian snapped a two-fight losing streak when he posted a unanimous decision W over Manny Gamburyan at UFC 94 earlier this year. There is no immediate timetable for his return.
Speaking of unanimous decision wins, Miller unleashed a convincing one over Mac Danzig at July’s UFC 100 extravaganza.
UFC 103 will be taking place on September 19th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. With about a month before game time, it’s still possible for the organization to find a sub for Tavares, however no potential opponents have been mentioned at this point.
