Bad news, Dave Herman has been forced out of his “UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III” bout against Mike Russow. Good news, the highly anticipated rematch between Nam Phan and Leonard Garcia has been promoted to the pay-per-view broadcast in its place.
Garcia took home a highly controversial split decision victory over Phan at “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale” last December. The featherweights were slated to rematch at “UFC Fight Night 24” in March, but the Vietnamese-American broke his foot and was forced to withdraw.
The organization did not report what caused Herman to miss the star-studded show, nor did they mention if a heavyweight replacement will be sought for Russow.
The Toyota Center in Houston will host the October 8th extravaganza.
The Octagon’s long-awaited return to Texas features a pair of thrilling championship affairs. Featherweight king Jose Aldo will defend his crown against Kenny Florian in the card’s co-featured attraction, while lightweight champ Frankie Edgar faces Gray Maynard in the pay-per-view’s main event.
