Apparently, it’s not just against rival MMA organizations that the UFC counter-programs against. It is being reported that, for the first time ever, Spike TV will broadcast for free all of UFC 103‘s preliminary bouts LIVE during the two hours leading into the evening’s pay-per-view show.
According to The Orange County Register, MMA’s biggest promotion is looking to go head-up against the potential blockbuster boxing event between Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez. By making this groundbreaking move, the UFC has put themselves in a position to come out with guns blazing against their combat sport counterparts.
It looks like Affliction Entertainment came up with at least one idea the UFC liked as they were the first MMA organization to provide their fans with dual-outlet broadcasting. The change allows the UFC to capture their viewers’ attention for a much longer period of time.
Affliction had a similar deal in place with HDNet and Showtime, their PPV provider, when they hosted their two shows.
