After a spectacular night of MMA action, UFC president Dana White awarded Joe Lauzon (Pictured), Nam Phan, Leonard Garcia and Frankie Edgar each an additional $75,000 for their special performances Saturday night at “UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III.”
Lauzon earned his extra commission by quickly disposing of Melvin Guillard in their highly-anticipated lightweight shootout. Although he was a significant 3-to-1 long shot, Lauzon easily tapped out Guillard in 47 seconds to earn ‘Submission of the Night’ honors.
As expected, Phan and Garcia put on another sensational show in their rematch. Their thrilling 15-minute affair not only kept fans on the edge of their seats, but it was good enough to earn each 145-pounder ‘Fight of the Night’ and the $75k that comes with it.
Speaking of ridiculousness, Edgar was dazed and confused early, but rallied to violently put Gray Maynard down in the card’s main event. In addition to avenging the only blemish on his professional resume and retaining his hardware, the Jersey boy also took home the ‘Knockout of the Night’ award.
UFC 136 took place inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
