During Saturday night’s “Bellator 54” event in New Jersey, company CEO Bjorn Rebney announced they have added controversial middleweight Maiquel Falcao (Pictured) to their roster.
Falcao made his claim to mainstream MMA fame as a one-and-done fighter for the UFC. After posting a unanimous decision victory over Gerald Harris at UFC 123 in November 2010, Falcao was released from the promotion after getting arrested in Brazil in relation to a 2002 assault charge.
He was subsequently issued 18-months probation.
The 30-year-old has since gone 2-1 while fighting for small promotions in Brazil. He was seen earlier month beating Douglas del Rio via TKO at “Apocalypse FC 1.”
Falcao’s Bellator debut was not announced.
