Prior to the announcement that BJ Penn (Pictured) would face Nick Diaz at UFC 137, Penn posted a vague message on his Twitter stating UFC president Dana White had offered him a deal he couldn’t refuse.

During Wednesday’s UFC 137 media workouts, Penn revealed to 5thRound.com that White’s proposal included more than just a scrap against the former Strikeforce welterweight champ. In fact, White’s proposition also came with a larger paycheck.

Penn was initially slated to fight Carlos Condit inside the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, but Condit was promoted to the main event after Diaz was pulled from his bout against welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre after failing to attend consecutive press conferences to promote the pay-per-view broadcast.

GSP’s scrap with Condit was ultimately postponed when St-Pierre injured his knee and hamstring, which allowed Penn and Diaz to slide into the card’s top spot.
