On Thursday, Authentic Sports Management announced the addition of UFC welterweight Jake Shields (Pictured) to their star-studded roster.
“This was a big decision for me, I took my time looking for the right management and I found it in Glenn Robinson and Authentic Sports Management,” said Shields. “ASM feels like a family environment. It has good people who are working hard, and he seems to really care about the fighters.
“He offers the whole package in terms of training, marketing, PR, legal, finance and sponsorship, and I trust that Glenn does what is best for us.”
The former Strikeforce middleweight champion owns an impressive 26-6-1 professional record, but was last seen losing to Jake Ellenberger at “UFC Fight Night 25.” Shields made the difficult decision to remain in the bout after the passing of his father, Jack.
Jack Shields also managed Jake throughout his career, so Robinson knows he’s following in some irreplaceable footsteps.
“I’m humbled by the opportunity to manage Jake Shields, he has been through a lot in the very recent past,” said Robinson. “After getting to know Jake, I have found him to be a sincere, straight forward, hardworking athlete and a person of high integrity who comes from a great upbringing.
“I know I’m stepping into very large shoes as his manager. I promise the Shields family I will do everything in my power to honor the decision that Jake made in trusting my team and I.”
