We were given the heads up that Affliction has partnered up with business mogul Donald Trump, but Sherdog is also reporting that former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski has officially signed on with Affliction as well. The deal calls for three-fights and will begin on July 19th as Arlovski steps in to face long rumored opponent, Ben Rothwell. At a recent press conference Rothwell had joked that his next opponent was his toughest to date saying, “TBA, my opponent, he’s good. And I believe that I’m gonna be tested like I’ve never been tested before.”
Trump is expected to be a spokesperson and financial backer for Affliction as he will definitely generate the media attention that the clothing company is in need of. Without a television deal in place (Fox Sports Net deal is only for Affliction: Banned), they’ll welcome any and all attention that Trump will bring in.
Arlovski is the latest UFC star to leave the organization. The UFC had strung out Arlovski’s last fight on his contract, forcing him to sit on the sidelines and wait until he could fight it out.
All of this is expected to be announced at Affliction’s press conference today and we’ll have all of the information as soon as it’s over, so make sure you head back to 5thRound.com throughout the day.
