Justin Timberlake may have brought “SexyBack” in 2006 with his hit pop song, but Yoshihiro Akiyama (Pictured) is bringing “Sexyama” back after adding several rips to his chiseled frame.
After losing three consecutive Octagon scraps, UFC president Dana White stated the middleweight would not be released if he lost 15 pounds and moved to the welterweight division.
Well, Akiyama upped the ante by shedding 33 pounds and completely redefining his physique (Pic above courtesy of Ameblo). The 36-year-old claims he hasn’t been this light since his college days, which was nearly 15 years ago.
Akiyama owns a 13-4 (2 NC) record and was last seen getting put to sleep by Vitor Belfort at UFC 133 in August. The judoka star is one of Japan’s most popular fighters, with most of his accomplishments taking place in the Land of the Rising Sun.
He has posted a disappointing 1-3 mark since joining the UFC in 2009.
The world’s premier MMA promotion is plotting a Japanese invasion on February 26th and could benefit greatly from “Sexyama’s” services. However, the veteran has not been officially announced for the UFC’s return to the Orient.
