UFC Terry Etim

Some thought Terry Etim (Pictured) had fallen off the face of the earth after losing to Rafael dos Anjos back in April 2010. While a broken rib was the true cause behind his extended hiatus, Etim returned in resounding fashion on Saturday at UFC 138 by making quick work of Eddie Faaloloto.

It took Etim all of 17 seconds to collect his fourth ‘Submission of the Night’ award when he caught Faaloloto with a standing guillotine choke. Although the lightweight class became the company’s deepest division while he was away, the 26-year-old can’t wait to be thrown right into the fire.

“I want to fight obviously the top guys,” Etim stated. “Every fighter, you obviously want to fight the best fighters and that’s who I want to fight. It’s been a very long 19 months and now I’m back. It’s a lot of time to make up and I want to do that by fighting the top guys.

“[UFC matchmaker] Joe Silva puts the fights together and whoever he puts in front of me, that’s who I’ll fight. He hasn’t said nothing yet, but whoever he comes with I’ll be ready for.”

Silva may not have had the opportunity to mention anything to Etim at the post-fight press conference, but UFC president Dana White professed they have already pinpointed his next opponent.

“He’s already got another fight coming up, immediately,” White matter-of-factly said. “Joe’s already got it.”

Would you care to share with us who Etim will be facing next, Uncle Dana?

“Nah,” White stated. “I’ll let Joe tell [Etim] first.”
