After several months of unprecedented hoopla, Junior dos Santos (Pictured) took all of 64 seconds to dispose of Cain Velasquez to capture the UFC heavyweight title on Saturday night.
“I have no words to say what I’m feeling,” dos Santos said while fighting back tears. “It’s amazing, my life. I want to say thank you to my team and family. I have a lot of good people around me.”
Although dos Santos made it look easy, “Cigano” admitted he wasn’t at his best entering the biggest fight of his life.
“Cain Velasquez for sure was my toughest opponent,” dos Santos stated.” I was afraid to fight with him because he’s very tough. I wasn’t 100 percent for this fight, so I was scared.”
Unfortunately for curious minds that want to know, UFC color commentator Joe Rogan did not follow up and ask what exactly was wrong with dos Santos. At the end of the day, it didn’t matter as 2Santos will bring the bling-bling back to Brazil with him.
Velasquez mauled Brock Lensar in October 2010 to win the title inside the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Fast forward 13 months and he winds up losing his strap in the same arena.
