No rest for the weary. Just three days after beating Pablo Garza at “UFC on FOX,” featherweight Dustin Poirer (Pictured) was assigned to meet Erik Koch at UFC 143 on Super Bowls weekend.
Not only do the featherweights look very similar to each other, but their records are nearly identical. Koch holds a 13-1 mark and is perfect a 2-0 inside the Octagon, while Poirer is 11-1 and unbeaten in his three big league appearances.
Koch most recently fought at “UFC Fight Night 25,” where he outpointed “The Ultimate Fighter 12” winner Jonathan Brookins for a unanimous decision victory.
Although the organization has yet to confirm which Las Vegas, Nevada location will host the February 4th event, the Mandalay Bay Events Center is the current frontrunner to win the bid.
A welterweight title tilt between champion Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz is slated to headline the pay-per-view broadcast.
Here is the card’s updated roster:
Erik Koch vs. Dustin Poirer
Joe Lauzon vs. Anthony Pettis
Carlos Condit vs. Josh Koscheck
Nick Diaz vs. Georges St-Pierre (UFC Welterweight Champion)
