Strikeforce Fedor Emelianenko

While most MMA eyes are fixated on tonight’s UFC 139 event in San Jose, the official weigh-ins for “M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Monson” was taking place across the world in Moscow, Russia.

Sunday’s pay-per-view broadcast features a heavyweight bout between Fedor Emelianenko (Pictured) and journeyman Jeff Monson.

Emelianenko tipped the scales at 238.3 pounds, while Monson checked in at 238.1. Emelianenko weighed 223 pounds for his last fight against Dan Henderson four months ago.

However, the talk of today’s festivities was Monson. He was caught in traffic and missed the pre-fight press conference and weigh-ins because he had to pick up his wife from the airport. Monson was able to weigh-in shortly after everything wrapped.

Don’t forget the curtain will be drawn on the show early tomorrow morning. The overseas event inside the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, which comes with a $29.95 price tag, airs live at 7:30AM ET/4:30AM PT.
