What Dana White's "Huge" Announcement Is Not

Since the story came out in ESPN The Magazine regarding UFC President Dana White’s “huge” announcement, rumors have been pretty much coming out of the mill so to speak. Anything that has taken place since that proclamation has the MMA world buzzing, as they did when Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his retirement from boxing leading to speculation he was coming to the UFC.

Then, there was the rumor about a big time showdown between former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell against current UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva. That rumor may actually be true, but many doubt that it’s the “big” announcement.

Of course, White went on CNBC and announced a Jakks toy deal that’ll see figures being made of the UFC’s biggest stars. He also went on to say that he wasn’t going into business with Vince McMahon and the WWE, who also happen to have a toy deal with Jakks.

So what is this “left field” announcement from Dana White? At this point, nobody really knows and I think that’s the way that he wanted it. The amount of buzz that has been generated because of that vague statement from White himself has everyone guessing, but one thing is for sure, I guess we now know what it is not.
