The UFC sure isn’t suffering through a post-Thanksgiving hangover. After announcing a slew of scraps on Tuesday, the organization has just confirmed a critical welterweight fight between Martin Kampmann (Pictured) and Thiago Alves for March.
Unfortunately, a specific date and location for the shootout was not reported. However, the contest will take place in the UFC’s second show on FX.
“A potential fight of the night candidate has been verbally agreed to as Martin Kampmann will face Thiago Alves in a welterweight match early next year,” UFC president Dana White stated.
Kampmann managed to snap his two-fight losing skid by posting a decision win over Rick Story at UFC 139. “The Hitman” bumped his career record to 18-5 following the victory.
Speaking of scoring a much-needed W, Alves had dropped three of his last four fights prior to choking out Papy Abedi earlier this month at UFC 138. The former top contender owns a 19-8 pro mark.
No other bouts have been announced for the March card at this time.
