Outside of a strong contingent of Englishmen and a handful of “Mayhem” maniacs, the middleweight grudge match between Michael Bisping and Jason Miller hasn’t garnered much attention. However, it appears there will be one particular 185-pounder that intends to be glued to his television set when they meet this Saturday.
Prior to hosting Wednesday’s 2011 World MMA Awards, Chael Sonnen (Pictured) walked the red carpet and flatly denied his heavily-rumored fight with Mark Munoz. Some outlets have suggested they would collide in the UFC’s return to primetime television, but Uncle Chael quickly killed that chatter last night.
“I have no fight with Mark Munoz,” Sonnen told FightHub. “My next fight will be based on … uh … I don’t know how much I can say, but I’ll be watching the TV set Saturday night. Put it that way.”
Bisping will be roughly a 2-to-1 favorite when he enters The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. If “The Count” is able to uphold his frontrunner status, it appears he might have scored himself a date with MMA’s most articulate trash talker.
At the same time, it’s not as though Bisping has ever been one to shy away from a good verbal sparring session, either.
Saturday’s Spike TV broadcast begins live at 8PM ET/5PM PT, but I’m sure Sonnen already knew that.
