Despite competing just this past weekend, Michael Bisping (Pictured) has already been issued his next assignment. The controversial middleweight will meet Demian Maia in the UFC’s return to FOX on January 28th.
Bisping easily disposed of Jason “Mayhem” Miller at “The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale” on Saturday to collect his fourth straight victory. “The Count” has won five out of his last six scraps inside the Octagon.
Maia has posted a 3-1 record since losing to middleweight champ Anderson Silva in early 2010. The submission specialist’s lone blemish during his current run came at the hands of Mark Munoz. Maia was most recently seen beating Jorge Santiago at UFC 136 in October.
The 185-pound affair will join a pair of top contender bouts on the main card. Middleweight Mark Munoz faces Chael Sonnen, while a light heavyweight shootout between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis headlines the show.
The United Center in Chicago, Illinois will host the festivities. Unlike last month’s hour-long premiere on primetime television, the UFC’s follow-up broadcast on FOX is expected to run two hours and showcase at least three live fights.
Here is the card’s updated roster:
Cub Swanson vs. George Roop
Jon Olav Einemo vs. Mike Russow
Cody McKenzie vs. Michael Johnson
Demetrious Johnson vs. Eddie Wineland
Evan Dunham vs. Paul Sass
Michael Bisping vs. Demian Maia
Mark Munoz vs. Chael Sonnen
Phil Davis vs. Rashad Evans
