Mike Pierce (Pictured) has been clamoring for it, and late Thursday night the welterweight was granted his wish. Pierce will take on Josh Koscheck at UFC 143 inside the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“It’s on! KOS tried wiggling outta this one too, but Feb 4th he’s mine,” Pierce tweeted.
Koscheck was slated to face Carlos Condit on the same card, but “The Natural Born Killer” was promoted to the show’s featured attraction after champion Georges St-Pierre was forced out of his contest against Nick Diaz.
Condit and Diaz will now battle for the interim title belt in the pay-per-view’s main event.
Kos was last seen putting Matt Hughes down at UFC 135 in September. The victory marked his first fight since suffering a broken orbital bone in a UFC 124 loss to St-Pierre.
Pierce has rattled off wins in four out of his last five outings. He was seen last month posting a split decision win over Paul Bradley at UFC on FOX.
The UFC also confirmed a bantamweight bout between Scott Jorgensen and Renan Barao for the event.
Here is the card’s updated roster:
Rafael Natal vs. Michael Kuiper
Jorge Lopez vs. Amir Sadollah
Alex “Bruce Leeroy” Caceres vs. Edwin Figueroa
Scott Jorgensen vs. Renan Barao
Josh Koscheck vs. Mike Pierce
Erik Koch vs. Dustin Poirer
Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz (Interim UFC Welterweight Title)
