After getting omitted from Sports Business Journal’s “50 Most Influential People in Sports Business” list last year, UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta (Pictured) and company president Dana White have manged to crack the exclusive club in 2011.
The dynamic duo checked in at #41 in this year’s polls.
“In the last decade, the Las Vegas billionaire and his bombastic front man have taken the UFC from outlawed to in thing,” SBJ stated. “A move to the FOX family of networks, coupled with expansion into South America and Asia, made 2011 a watershed year.”
In addition to the blockbuster broadcast deal the UFC inked with FOX, they also acquired Strikeforce, their largest stateside rival, this past March.
Just in case you were wondering, NBCUniversal Holdings president and CEO Steve Burke came in as 2011’s top dog. StubHub CEO Chris Tsakalakis brought in the rear at #50.
