A day before big brother UFC hosts an interim welterweight title tilt between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit, Strikeforce tried to steal some shine by announcing the five showcase fights that will appear in their next event.

“Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey” takes place March 3rd inside Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate defends her crown against Ronda Rousey in the main attraction.

A light heavyweight shoot out between former champ Gegard Mousasi and Mike Kyle serves as the night’s co-featured contest.

K.J. Noons vs. Josh Thomson, Paul Daley vs. Kazuo Misaki and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs. Derek Brunson round out the main card.

Showtime Extreme broadcasts the preliminary fights at 8PM ET/PT. Showtime will air the main bouts at 10PM ET/PT.

Have you noticed Georges St-Pierre has received more coverage in UFC 143 promos than Carlos Condit? Well, Nick Diaz (Pictured) certainly has and he’s disgusted by it.

“Yeah, I think it makes me sick,” Diaz said of St-Pierre overshadowing Condit. “This is Carlos’ time to be here and to be a part of this main event. This is … half of the show is built up around me fighting Georges St-Pierre, but that’s not [right]. I’m fighting Carlos Condit. So, I don’t like it.”

GSP’s presence in the pre-fight footage wouldn’t be an issue if he was actually defending his crown at UFC 143, but the fact of the matter is that he isn’t. In actuality, the reigning welterweight king’s surgically-repaired knee is at least four months away from training at full capacity and roughly nine months out from stepping back inside the Octagon.

Although St-Pierre has been floating around Vegas all fight week, Diaz has tried his best to pay him no attention as he’s not an immediate threat. However, that didn’t stop Mr. 209 from slipping in a slight diss during Thursday’s press conference.

“You’re more in danger of losing a decision to Georges St-Pierre,” Diaz expressed of GSP’s propensity of having the judges determine his fate. “I think you’re more in danger of losing your teeth if you’re fighting Condit.”

Diaz and Condit meet for the interim welterweight title tomorrow night inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

With exactly one month remaining until the curtain is drawn on “UFC on FX: Alves vs. Kampmann,” the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion has announced the four featured fights that will air in the FX broadcast.

In addition to showcasing the opening round of their four-man flyweight tournament, a critical welterweight shootout between Martin Kampmann (Pictured) and Thiago Alves will headline the festivities.

A middleweight shootout with Constantinos Philippou and Court McGee rounds out the main card.

Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia hosts the March 3rd event.

FYI, a last-minute injury forced Robert Peralta out of his anticipated rematch against Mackens Semerzier. The organization is currently scouring the globe for a suitable featherweight substitute.

Middleweight Jorge Santiago (Pictured) has found himself a new home. The former UFC star will headline “Titan Fighting 21″ on March 2nd against fellow Brazilian Leonardo Pecanha.

“I can’t wait to fight for Titan on March 2nd and to show everybody that ‘The Sandman’ is back and more dangerous than ever before,” said Santiago. “I train with the best coaches and some of the best fighters in the world, I’ve never felt better or more ready, and at Titan Fighting 21 I’m going to make a fight nobody will forget – especially Leonardo Pecanha.”

Santiago was released from the UFC after losing both of his bouts in the big leagues. Prior to returning to the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion, the 31-year-old was victorious in 11 out of his last 12 scraps and was considered to be one of the planet’s top 185-pounders.

Pecanha has won six of his past seven fights and was most recently seen submitting Matias Ezequiel Lemon in May.

Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas hosts the festivities. HDNet will broadcast the main card live starting at 9PM ET/6PM PT.

According to UFC president Dana White, it’s Jon Jones or bust for Dan Henderson (Pictured). Instead of looking to solidify his next in line status, White claims Henderson is willing to play the waiting game until Jones becomes available.

“Dan Henderson’s in a position right now where it looks like he wants to wait for Jon Jones,” White said following Thursday’s press conference. “We’ll see what happens with this Rashad [Evans] fight.”

Henderson was hoping his instant classic win over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua this past November would have allowed him to leapfrog into a title bout. He was so hellbent on immediately fighting for the hardware that he turned down a bout against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at “UFC on FUEL 2.”

Unfortunately for the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, White has always considered him as Option B behind Evans.

Following last Saturday’s lopsided unanimous decision victory over Phil Davis, Evans earned next dibs at Jones’ strap. Although nothing has been officially announced by the organization, “Suga” is expected to challenge his friend-turned-foe for his crown at UFC 145 on April 21st.

Just in case you were wondering, “Bones” is an overwhelming 6-to-1 favorite to successfully defend his throne against Evans. So if the Gambling Gods prove correct, Jones will be Henderson’s next opponent.

If Hendo is in fact content on taking a bit of a sabbatical, the 41-year-old could be riding the pine until the summertime.

Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz (Interim UFC Welterweight Title)

For the first time since Alistair Overeem (Pictured) was charged with battery of a female partygoer, UFC president Dana White addressed the controversy surrounding his heavyweight top contender. According to White, Overeem was unexpectedly attacked when he exited the restroom of a popular Las Vegas, Nevada nightclub.

“I don’t think he’s in that much trouble,” White expressed after Thursday’s press conference. “This isn’t a situation where he beat somebody up, I don’t think that’s the case.

“He had to use the restroom, this is my knowledge of what happened, [and] security was going to take him. He said, ‘I don’t need security,’ and sure enough he goes over there, and his side of the story is some lady started yelling at him and swinging at him and everything else.”

While he wasn’t arrested, the former Strikeforce champion was issued a citation by the Las Vegas Police Department at around 3AM on January 2nd for reportedly pushing or shoving a woman in the face, “causing her to stagger back.”

The alleged incident occurred just days after he disposed of Brock Lesnar at UFC 141. The victory earned Overeem next dibs at Junior dos Santos’ heavyweight crown.

Despite Overeem’s sticky situation, White isn’t planning on scouring his roster for a new top contender.

“We’re going to have to figure that out, but I’m planning on Alistair Overeem [fighting dos Santos],” White flatly stated.

Overeem is scheduled to appear in court on February 21st. If convicted, “The Demolition Man” faces a maximum of six months in county jail and a maximum $1,000 fine. However, the 31-year-old has vehemently denied any wrongdoing through his attorney.

For the first time since losing his middleweight title to Luke Rockhold, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (Pictured) will make his return to the hexagon. On Thursday evening, Derek Brunson announced on his Twitter account that he will challenge the former champion at “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey” on March 3rd.

Jacare owns a respectable 14-3 (1 NC) record, with 11 of his victories coming via submission. The Brazilian had won four straight scraps prior to losing his crown to Rockhold.

Brunson is perfect through his first nine professional fights, though the 28-year-old has never faced anyone of Jacare’s caliber. He was last seen posting a unanimous decision win over Nate James in November.

The 185-pound affair will likely appear in the card’s prelims.

Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio hosts the event. A bantamweight title bout between champion Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey headlines the festivities.

Showtime will broadcast the main card at 10PM ET/PT.
