| we've already spoken a little on this in the past, but 5th Round is now reporting that Dana has actually spoken about merging the MW and LHW ranks. Nice concept. |

Here's what I think is brewing. Dana White wants to merge the two, which is a good idea cause these two divisions are thin in the WEC. He is planning on sending A. Silva to light heavyweight, giving Silva's friend who he won't fight, WEC middle weight champ Paulo Filho the belt. Then Dana's boy Rich Franklin can have another shot at the title without having to worry about Silva. Filho vs. Franklin would make a great pay per view, while A. Silva will have several intriguing matchups at lightheavy weight rather than a bunch of one sided massacres vs. the likes of Okami, Leites, Cote, Almeida, Kampmann, McFedries, Bisping, Grove, or whoever else is unfortunate enough to fight Silva.
This merger brings one question to mind: How do you think Brian Stann would do in the UFC? |

That is an interesting theory. I'll bite. However, Filho is a top ranked fighter, but I am not sure if the UFC is willing to bank their MW divison on him and his unstable mind. Also, there is no guarantee that he will be Sonnen. |

| Does that mean that Dana intends to bring on a boat load more 145, 155 and 170ers over to WEC? Hopefully that means that he is going to Japan and pick from their talent pool, I'm just not sure how willing they are going to be with the exclusivity that Dana requires. |

| I heard about this a while ago, and now that it is coming true, I'm not sure how I feel. I think thought that they were going to use the WEC as like a minor league system. |

To me, it's the only way he'll ever see a loss on his record. He hits hard, so he'll always have the knock out chance but I have no clue if he can keep it off the mat. As far as I know he has no ground attack. All wins by KO or TKO (strikes).
Whoever he hits will sure feel it that's for sure IMO. |

Regardless of who he fights, if he fights, Stann has my vote. Gotta go with the Silver Star hero every time.
"On November 8, 2005, Stann and his command, the 2nd Mobile Assault Platoon, were ambushed by Iraqi insurgents while trying to secure a bridge near Karabilah. Stann and his men held out for six days under heavy attacks while Stann coordinated air and tank support that eventually allowed them to be relieved on November 14, 2005. Out of forty-two men in Stann's platoon, all survived, and Stann was awarded the Silver Star, the nation's third highest award for valor in combat. He left active duty in the Marine Corps as of May 2008."
